5 Furniture Ideas to Make the Most of Your Patio

No matter how big or small your patio is, what can really make or break the whole space is the furniture you decide to put in it. What’s so exciting about patios and outdoor spaces is you generally don’t have the same limitations you do with interior decor and furniture. You can incorporate fun and innovative pieces, like hammocks and swing chairs, that you aren’t necessarily going to start hanging up in your living room. Read our 5 favourite pieces of furniture for your patio below:

1. Suspended seating

There are a couple of ways you can go about this. We’ve seen some amazing examples of people getting creative and suspending their seating from a ceiling above their patio using ropes. You can even incorporate a pulley system to adjust the height of the seat depending on what it’s being used for.

If your patio cannot logistically accommodate this level of suspended seating then a traditional free standing swing seat still looks amazing and is the perfect spot to get comfy and relax outdoors.

2. An Egg Chair

These pod-shaped chairs are amazing! They’re similar to a swing seat but even more inviting. You can’t go wrong with an egg chair because they add an interesting modern look to your patio, they don’t take up too much space and they’re one of the most comfortable chairs ever – especially when they’re lined with some fun padded cushions!

3. Hammock

Okay so clearly we have a bit of a theme going here. But seriously, there’s something so nice about sitting (or lying) back and relaxing in a chair that doesn’t have 4 legs planted firmly on the ground.

Hammocks add a whole new element of chic to your patio or deck and you have a lot of options when it comes to style and installation. You can have one point of suspension, two points of suspension or even a freestanding hammock depending on the layout and logistics of your patio.

4. A Fire Pit

Nothing says ambience like a good fire pit. We always associate the autumn and winter nights with evenings spent around the fire pit on our patio with family and friends.

A custom-made stone fireplace can act as a really beautiful outside of your patio area, but if you don’t want to make that much of a commitment you can always opt for the more temporary option of a fire bowl.

5. A Daybed

When you’ve got the space for it, an outdoor daybed is one of the best additions you can have on your patio. Daybeds are perfect for lazing out in the sun with a book or your partner or simply getting a bit of tan. Add a canopy to your daybed for a bit of shade and protection from the sun as well to give your patio a bit of a boho beach feel.
